George 11 silver mote spoon, Dated Circa 1740, Made in London
Mote spoons were made to skim the loose tea leaves or motes off of the
top surface of the tea cup, with a thin stem and pointed end to get the clogged
up tea leaves out of the bottom of the spout.
This spoon has a wonderful patina with a hand pierced bowl which has a shell motif and a family crest on the back.
